The Stitchers' Angels Project

You may have noticed this "Stitchers' Angel" button on my Blog. This is a project run by Helen Stubbings from Tasmania, Australia. I first met Helen when I was at the Australian Quilt Market Trade Show a few years ago. We met again at Quilt Market in Houston and Salt Lake City. Helen and her sister, Tracey, were right across the aisle from us at the show.

Here is how the "Stitchers' Angel" project works: There are two ways to take part. You can just visit the site every week beginning Monday 17th August to view and print a free pattern - yes a free pattern from a fantastic designer. There will be seven free patterns, one each week.

You can join in the swap by filling out and emailing the form on Helen's site. You will be allocated a Secret Stitching angel and will be given a Stitcher for you to spoil. Over the seven weeks you need to hand-stitch at least three projects with which to surprise your stitcher. Of course you can make more than three! Each participant will receive at least three lovely surprises in the mail. The theme this year is Roses.

Maybe you would like to join? Click here for more details!

Ice Cream for Sale

I now have these applique ice cream cones for sale on my web site. Just like the cupcake shapes, they are totally calorie-free! These die-cut shapes have fusible web on the back so they are ready to use for quilts, wall hangings, clothing or scrapbooking projects. Click here for more information.

You can even order extra scoops in your favourite flavour if you are really hungry!

Here is a little wall hanging I made using these cute appliques. The ice cream cone shapes are 5.25" by 3.5" and the finished hanging is 7" x 10".

Die-Cut Applique Shapes

I now have these cute die-cut applique shapes for sale on my web site. The fusible web has already been added to the shapes, so you just iron them in place and stitch around the edges. Each cupcake is approximately 3" x 2.75". Click here for more information. I used the cupcake shapes for my "Calorie-Free Cupcakes" pattern but you can use the shapes in many different quilt, craft and scrapbooking projects.
I also have some ice cream cone shapes for sale and am working on a new design for them called "How Sweet It Is!" (Pictures and more information coming soon)

This great fabric from Northcott and Lyndhurst Studio has just arrived! It is called Girlfriends and was designed by Jody Houghton. There are 2 panels that will be perfect for small wall hangings, bags and clothing.

The co-ordinating fabrics are in black and fresh-looking pinks and greens.

This fabric will be arriving in quilt shops sometime in August. I think it is going to be a hot seller!

Canada Day in Brockville

Brockville is a small city (population 20,000) but there is always a wonderful Canada Day celebration on Courthouse Green.

The Brockville Rifles is Canada's fifteenth most senior Reserve Infantry regiment. This year, for the first time since World War 2, the Rifles sent men to war. The officers shown below have recently returned from Kandahar and are returning the City of Brockville flag to the mayor. The flag was taken with them to Afghanistan.

The Brockville Legion flag bearers

Our wonderful City of Brockville Pipe Band entertained on Courthouse Green.

The kids had their pictures taken with the RCMP officers who were on duty.

The Canada Day cake was supplied by our local Tait's Bakery.

And a good time was had by all!
