Artists' Studio Tour

Today I visited several artists on the Country Home Christmas Studio Tour. This is the 18th year for this tour and featured many artist in 11 different locations.

I particularly enjoyed the work of Penny Gorman. An architectural artist, Penny creates art from vintage bits and pieces of architectural salvage. Here are some pictures of her work. Can you identify some of the bits and pieces she has used?

The Latest from C & T Publishing

Do you have an iPhone? You might be interested in this new app from C & T Publishing.

“The world is going the way of hand-held devices, so we thought what could be more convenient than a complete quilt block iPhone app? It’s the perfect way to plan your quilt on the go—this app gives quilters everything they need to design quilts from the palm of their hands,” said C&T Publisher, Amy Marson.

This application features rotary-cutting directions for over 500 options for making traditional quilt blocks, plus bonus reference tables every quilter needs.

There are user-friendly instructions and a complete block index and grid index. You can even zoom in on piecing diagrams for crystal-clear viewing. Check out the C & T website for more information.

Stitcher's Angels

For the past few weeks, I have part of the "Stitcher's Angels" exchange. My friend, Helen Stubbings, from Australia organized this event. My 3 projects were sent to my "angel", Carol in Tennessee. She has just written to say she has received the package. You can read about it on her blog, A Scot in Tennesee.

I still haven't received my projects from the exchange, but I know they are on the way. I still have no idea who is sending them or where they are coming from. I will put some pictures on my Blog as soon as they arrive.

You can read more about the Stitchers' Angel project here.

Fat Quarters

Fat quarters - how do they accumulate so quickly? I have been finding fat quarters in many places in my sewing room, so I finally decided to organize them by colour. The are all so neat and tidy now, I am actually inspired to start a new project. And I don't intend buying any more!

Linda's Birthday Card

I used one of the small panels from the Girlfriends fabric by Northcott to make a card for my friend Linda who was celebrating a special birthday last week.

I used a stiff, fusible interfacing instead of batting.

I stitched the invitation on the back of the card. Then I added a picture pocket and put in a picture of Linda. This picture can be popped out and changed. It is the technique I use in all of my Pop-Out Picture quilts.

Hope you had a great day Linda!
