Cruising On the Magedoma

On Sunday I had the pleasure of cruising on the historic steam yacht, Cangarda. The Fulford family of Brockville owned this yacht for many years in the early 1900's and they named it Magedoma after family members, Mary, George, Dorothy and Martha. The current owner changed the name back to the original Cangarda, because it is bad luck to change the name of a ship.

You can learn more about the Fulford family here.

Fulford Place in the background. This was the home of George Fulford, owner of the Magedoma. It is now open as a museum and is a national historic site. If you are ever in Brockville, just let me know and I will give you a private tour of the mansion!

The original boat house for the yacht is now a private home. The yacht docked here at night when it was in Brockville.
