The gardens in Temple Square were spectacular. Maybe, if it ever stops raining, we will get to enjoy our spring flowers here!



Another New Pattern

Here is another top ready to be quilted. This design will be a new pattern that will be available later in the spring. The flower blocks were cut from a panel by Northcott. I haven't got a name for this pattern yet. Any suggestions?

Crocuses: A Painting by Celia Kainz

Celia Kainz is a painter in Brockville, Ontario. I am lucky enough to own this wonderful painting by Celia which is now hanging in our sun room.

Celia is the organizer of our "Art in the City" artists' studio tour which is held in Brockville every Fathers' Day Weekend. I wrote about this tour in my post on June 16. (Watch for a new Blog about this event coming soon!).

Last night we were having a meeting about next year's Studio Tour and I saw this wonderful painting of crocuses by Celia. It would be perfect in our kitchen. Maybe someday....

Byward Market in Ottawa

Established by Lt-Col. John By in 1826, the ByWard Market in Ottawa is one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets. The legendary builder of the Rideau Canal, Colonel By, laid out the street plan of the Market. Within an area roughly four blocks square, you'll find museums, cafés, specialty food shops, boutiques, galleries, and restaurants.

After a very long, cold and snowy winter Spring has finally arrived! Our temperatures have been in the mid 20's for the past week and we are enjoying every minute of it. Our sun room has now had its spring cleaning and we can sit there to enjoy the wonderful sunshine.

The best part of getting the sun room ready was hanging this wonderful painting (36" x 36") back on the wall. Brockville artist, Celia Kainz, created this painting for us to complement the room. We have geraniums and little blue flowers in hanging baskets all around the house during the summer and Celia has captured those flowers beautifully in this painting.
